Currumbin Community Special School is proud to introduce a very special staff member: our therapy dog, Maui. Maui attends school 2 days per week to support student health and wellbeing.
Our beautiful Maui has been specifically trained to support our students in numerous ways through his calm and affectionate nature. Animal assisted therapy has been proven to reduce stress and anxiety, support emtional and social needs and impove school attendance. Maui has had a tremendous impact on the school since he first set paw here.
All interactions with Maui are completely voluntary and the school risk assessment and training certification have been submitted to ensure that we meet Department accountability.
