Currumbin Community Special School opened as a replacement campus for Coolangatta Special School in July 2006. Coolangatta Special School operated across two campuses; the Coolangatta Farm Campus and the Kirra Hill campus. The design and building of Currumbin Community Special School ensured all students with disabilities had access to facilities and programs on the one campus. The farm campus became the Currumbin Community Farm School (Outdoor Education Centre), available to all Queensland schools, managed and operated by Tallebudgera Beach School Outdoor Education Centre.
