Art at Currumbin Community Special School is interactive and fun with hands on learning. Students get the opportunity to engage with a variety of mediums to produce artworks that incorporate their passions, experiences and life. Social engagement and interaction is fostered with creative endeavours that the students can share or work collaboratively with other peers.
Students explore their ability to paint, draw, sketch, print, collage and conceptualise large art projects. They are introduced to art elements and principles whilst honing their fine motor skills. Exploration is encouraged around ideas and textiles. Students have the opportunity to share their creative ideas and express themselves using a range of textures, media and design.
Currumbin Community Special School values its partnership with local artist Clayton Blake. They are working on a project for SWELL around the concept of space, collaboration and community.
Art is a valued component of expression and education at Currumbin Community Special School.
